📍 Lowburn Harbour Freedom Camp, overlooking Lake Dunstan! @cromwellcentralotago 🌅
We always, always, stay here when we’re in @centralotagonz It’s a stunning spot, right on the lake, and one of the real perks of it being free is that it means we’ve got extra cash to spend supporting local cafés, wineries and businesses in the area.
In six years of touring NZ, we’ve never had this happen before… We left our @australiscaravansnz and the folks @soel_outdoors parked up while we popped over to @arrowtownnz in the ute. Our @blink CCTV pinged, someone was right up next to the van. We politely asked them (through the speaker 😅) to move away.
When we returned… there was a letter waiting. (See photo 4.)
We were already planning to leave that day anyway. But here’s the strange part: the notice said we had four hours to vacate from the time it was issued. Without CCTV, we’d have had no idea when that clock started ticking.
We absolutely agree people shouldn’t take the mickey with freedom camping. Rules are there for a reason. But this seems a bit much, reads a bit heavy, don’t you think?
Keen to hear your thoughts.

An ode to Mom.
The strongest human I know.
In courage. In her willingness to say yes to adventure, even when it’s unfamiliar. In her openness to this wild, beautiful corner of the world we now call home.
Watching her here in Aotearoa New Zealand, embracing it all, the landscapes, the people, the pace of life, has meant more to me than I can put into words. Every step she’s taken, every new experience she’s welcomed, every moment she’s stood in awe… it’s something I’ll carry with me forever.
We are so incredibly proud of her. Of her curiosity. Of her bravery. Of her love for adventure, and, as she flies home, most of all, of her. 🤍
Until next time.
Love Jord xx

A word from Jord:
I couldn’t be more blessed to have the parents I do. For making me strong, passionate, and well, for letting me go. For loving the man I love. And for joining us on these adventures whenever they can.
Never forget… your parents are your parents, in whatever form that takes. But they are also humans of their own. They have their own stories, their own friendships, their own lives, and choosing to share part of that life with you is something truly special.
And check out that zoom Tommo got of Kā Roimata o Hine Hukatere Franz Josef Glacier… unreal. 🏔️

There is no better way to start a day in @glaciercountrynz than @waihohottubs (or end it, or pop in midday, doesn’t matter)…
Each and every time we visit this magical spot on the @westcoastnewzealand @waihohottubs is a non-negotiable for us. Tucked away in Franz Josef, these private cedar hot tubs sit beside the gentle flow of the Waiho River, surrounded by native bush and stillness.
Sink into the perfectly heated water, look up through the canopy, and everything slows down.
What makes it even more special is how simple and personal it is. Each tub is private, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully designed to let you fully switch off and soak it all in. Whether you’ve spent the day exploring the glaciers, hiking, or just driving the coast, this is the reset your body and mind didn’t know it needed.
It’s calm. It’s grounding. And it’s something we’ll keep coming back to, every single time.
Oh and throwing on your @stokednz towelies afterwards. A must!

Kōtuku White Heron aboard a scenic cruise on Lake Māpourika with @franzjoseftours 🤍
Our second time aboard and it won’t be our last.
The water like glass, reflections of the Southern Alps stretching out in front of you, and the quiet feeling of being somewhere truly ancient.
One of the things we love most about this cruise is how small and personal it is. Just a handful of people aboard means there’s space to take it all in properly, to drift, to notice things you’d otherwise miss.
We felt lucky to have Dale as our skipper and guide again. His knowledge of the area, the wildlife, and the stories of this place adds so much depth to the experience. You can tell how much he genuinely cares about sharing it.
And of course… we couldn’t resist jumping in at the end.. We were so chuffed when Cam followed right behind us, straight in without hesitation.
A calm, special experience we’ll keep coming back to.
